Why read Monday Morning Power?

You will find a consistency and a focus in all of my content that can change your attitude which can fuel a positive change in your life, if you want it to. If you are happy with your attitude and your life and see no reason for changing, then you either already have a PMA (Positive Mental Attitude), or you are a victim and want to hold onto your misery. These postings will then serve to fortify the person with PMA, or, hopefully, convince the "victim" that there is a better way. This site will contain essays, poems, stories, humor and links, all with the same goal: The pursuit, capture, care and feeding of a Positive Mental Attitude. I have had readers tell me that they have spent hours on my site and feel great about themselves both during and after. I log onto my own site frequently to help fuel my attitude; I hope you will as well.

A Thanksgiving "Thank You"

It is getting very close to Thanksgiving here in the USA. This is a day for giving thanks for the blessings that we have received over the past year. Well, this year I have something very special to be thankful for.

I didn’t start blogging until May of this year. As you may know, the reason I started blogging was to have a vehicle to put out my “Empowerment Process,” which I have been posting in installments. However, what I got was a home for friendships that I feel are as real as the ones in my “real” life. For this I am more thankful than words can express.

There is something very special and unique about blogging friendships. In “real” life we all have to first get by the physical and superficial aspects of each other before we can get into who we are, really. In “real” life there is so much bull shit that we have to put up with, that sometimes developing true friends becomes very difficult. I feel that with blogging friendships there are no superficial aspects to it; the barriers do not exist. We open up in our writings as to who we really are. We bare ourselves and say “this is me.” For many of us this is the only way that we can truly express ourselves, our opinions, our strengths and our fears. I have also discovered a level of INTEGRITY amongst bloggers that I have not found in “real” life.

I feel that I have made true friends all over the worlds; here in the US, in the UK, in Finland, in Portugal, in Australia, in Malaysia, in New Zealand, in India, in the Philippines, in Singapore, and in every corner of the world. I believe that if I ever get the chance to visit these distant places that I have friends that I can actually visit and say, in person, “Thank You for being my friend.” For this I am so thankful. I never expected to feel this way when I began blogging. I truly love you all!!

For this occasion I have created a new award. This one has nothing imbedded in it. It is a sincere and heartfelt appreciation for all of my friends. Feel free to pass this around. This one is truly for giving.

I present this token of my appreciation to:

If I have forgotten anyone, I apologize. For the friends I have yet to make, please accept this award in anticipation of a future friendship.

Making friends is not something that stops at an arbitrary date in time. Therefore, as I make new friends I will continue to give out this token of my friendship. To that end, I am presenting this award to:

As you have said, there are no barriers online and friendships flourish which is the beauty of the blogosphere. I started blogging in March with my Free PC Security blog and then my Life blog started in June, but I have made so many amazing friends it really is awesome :)

I love the Award and think it is great.

Ah Mel - that is so very thoughtful. Positive proof if proof be needed that the power in giving doesn't leave you with less for as much as we freely give away, it is returned many fold.

Giving of yourself is just as important and evident in the amount of people who return your affection and hold you in such high esteem. x

You are very welcome.

I consider myself fairly profound but when I read what you write, well you just blow me away. If you remember, you started my "Trail of Joy." For that I will forever be thankful.

Like I said, you have helped me in so many ways, especially the kind way that you handled my, shall we say, over-enthusiasm. Thank you!

I will never forget the "shout-out" that you gave me a few months ago. It was one of the sweetest and kindest things I have ever read. You have been a definite influence in my journey. Thank you.

Thank you, Mel. I sincerely appreciate this. I am so very happy that we have become friends!

aussiecynic said...

Thanks Mel
what a lovely surprise...
Very cool I shall add this straight away..

Monday Morning Power said...

HI Nick,
There is a sense of integrity here that is not in the "real" world. I just knew when we first met, and we had that minor skirmish that I had to re-evaluate what I was asking. When I decided that you were right and I was wrong, that we were bound to be friends. That's a long way of saying "yeh, me too."

Monday Morning Power said...

I'm glad you like it.

Shinade said...

Thank you Mel so very very much for this. See I have not gone away...just not blogging for a while.

I am so very honored indeed to be included in this list. And truest me this means the world to me especially at this time as I am in the process of a little grieving.

You are a very special person and I am so glad that we met and became friends. You have my email so please feel free to get in touch at anytime.

I too will keep in touch as much as possible by dropping in occasionally.

I am thrilled to here from you. Remember, blogging should be about "you." If you are sad it may help to lay it out. You have a lot of friends out here, and as a group we can help support you! The choice is yours. You must do what is right for you.

Monday Morning Power said...

I just feels good to sincerely say Thank You!

Lyn said...

Thank you so much! I really appreciate this more than you know... Like you I feel the same about the less superficiality of blogging friendships, although there are some out there, for sure, but, for the most part, when we connect with certain bloggers a magical thing happens and we 'feel' so much for one another; strange and wonderful, it is... and me, I am just a big ole blob of love anyway... again thank you and bless you; wish I could create awards but, I am deficient... hahaha... take care...

Marshall Jarreau said...

Thanks a lot Mel. You have been my first blogging friend and I'd say you're doing a great job! All these recent experiences have also exceeded my expectations far beyond what I thought could come out of this. In fact, I'm a little overwhelmed by it. Not quite sure how you do it yet, but you're fantastic at it!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Monday Morning Power said...

Your blog says it all. Your welcome.

Monday Morning Power said...

Thank you for the compliment. This blogging thing comes easy with the help of my friends. I have made a lot of blunders along the way, and some very kind bloggers have pointed out where I have gone wrong. You will make many blogging friends. Just remember you have to give of yourself, with sincerity and honesty and it will come right back at you ten times over.

Adrian said...

Thank you Mel! It's a really cute award and spreads the meaning of Thanksgiving to all! :)

Happy Thanksgiving to you! :)

No one adult human being is happy! People are born, they have a limited amount of time going around thinking life is dandy but then, inevitably, tragedy strikes and they realize life equals loss! The whole point of the game is to minimize the pain caused by that equation! Now some people do it by having kids, or making money, or taking up coin collecting, and others do it by getting wasted. Letting that little switch in the head turn the hot light off and the cool light on.~

Thank you so much Mel,for this great honor.I agree with you that
there are no barriers in friendship.
"The world is round so that friendship may circle it."
God bless.

Monday Morning Power said...

that was very well stated and completely agree.

Monday Morning Power said...

You are welcome. Have a great Thanksgiving.

Monday Morning Power said...

Your view on happiness is simply wrong. I would need to know more about your situation to comment specifically. You have no profile and no way that I can see if you blog, so there is nothing that I can find out about you. You mentioned loss...yes loss is an inevitable part of life. And after loss we must grieve. That is not a happy time. However, you are associating activities to happiness. If you have read my site you know how I define happiness; it is a choice. Now I realize that chemical imbalance and psychological factors can play a role.

With the little bit that you have shared, all I can say is that I feel very sad for you. You seem like you are playing out the role of victim and relinquishing control of your life to external factors. I would like to help, but I need to know more.

In any event, I hope that you find peace and happiness.

Have a happy Thanksgiving.

What a wonderful thing to do! I will display it proudly on my blog. And I agree wholeheartedly with your sentiment-I also never expected to make so many friends when I started out blogging 5 months ago-it has opened up a whole new world for me. Thank you so much for the award.

This friendship token just so belonged on your site.

I may be deluding myself, but I feel that some of my blog friendships rival, or even surpass, the sincerity of my real life friendships.
