Are You Prepared For Success? (Section II - Installment #19 "Don’t Quit” – Male & Female versions)

(If this is your first time on this site, you may want to begin with "Are You Prepared For Success?" [Introduction])

Don't Quit

When things go wrong like they sometimes will;
When the road your trudging seems all uphill;
When the funds are low, and the debts are high;
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh;
When care is pressing you down a bit-
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer, with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about
When you might have won if you’d stuck it out;
Stick to your task, though the pace seems slow;
You may succeed with one more blow.

Success is failure turned inside out;
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt;
And you never can tell how close you are;
It may be near when it seems afar.
So, stick to the fight when you're hardest hit-
It's when things go wrong that you mustn't quit.

(Based on a poem by an unknown author)

I strongly suggest that you write down your immediate reaction, after passionately reading this poem.
  • Can you identify something worthwhile in your life (ie. school, job, relationship)...be specific...that you would like to run away from, quit; because it's too hard, or takes up too much time?
    • What would happen if you quit?
    • What is the reward of you don't quit?
    • Now, compare.

  3. I never ran anyway from anything and am pleased to say that I retired when I was 53. I am thrilled that through the difficult times, and there were a few, I stayed... I have always been successful no matter what I have been doing.

  4. Sandee,
    I knew that....I could tell just by reading your blog. As I state in my blog description, I am focused on the pursuit, capture, care and feeding of a PMA. You are obviously in the "care and feeding" category.
