ROFL!!! LOL LOL LOL this one is great!! Of course if it were with me (if he were mine) I'd give that kid a lesson he'd never forget (and I wouldn't even need to slap him - yes, slapping is quite natural in Portugal, Italy, Spain and France)!
Max, I have three kids and only one tried this tactic. My wife and I walked away and totally ignored this behavior. That was the first and last time that he tried a tantrum with us. Luckily it was not in a public place.
That is one of the most efficient forms of dealing with these episodes! That way kids realise that no one is paying attention (so they miss their target) and that they are making a fool of themselves (kids hate public humiliation)!
