Why read Monday Morning Power?

You will find a consistency and a focus in all of my content that can change your attitude which can fuel a positive change in your life, if you want it to. If you are happy with your attitude and your life and see no reason for changing, then you either already have a PMA (Positive Mental Attitude), or you are a victim and want to hold onto your misery. These postings will then serve to fortify the person with PMA, or, hopefully, convince the "victim" that there is a better way. This site will contain essays, poems, stories, humor and links, all with the same goal: The pursuit, capture, care and feeding of a Positive Mental Attitude. I have had readers tell me that they have spent hours on my site and feel great about themselves both during and after. I log onto my own site frequently to help fuel my attitude; I hope you will as well.

To My Fellow Bloggers.....

Please feel free to link my blog to yours. A dose of "Monday Morning Power" would bolster any blog, except for those that profess doom, destruction and the end of the world. If you want to use any of my content in your blog, please ask first via email or by comment. I will need to review your blog for appropriate content and then give you written permission as well as being sure that you link back.

Monday Morning Power

A dose of "Monday Morning Power" and a cup of coffee and you're ready for whatever awaits you. At a minimum you should read this blog on Monday Mornings. However, there will be new posts daily. WALKING THE DOG

A WOMAN was flying from Seattle to San Francisco. Unexpectedly, the plane was diverted to Sacramento along the way. The flight attendant explained that there would be a delay, and if the passengers wanted to get off the aircraft the plane would re-board in 50 minutes.

Everybody got off the plane except one lady who was blind. The man had noticed her as he walked by and could tell the lady was blind because her Seeing Eye dog lay quietly underneath the seats in front of her throughout the entire flight.

He could also tell she had flown this very flight before because the pilot approached her, and calling her by name, said, "Kathy, we are in Sacramento for almost an hour. Would you like to get off and stretch your legs?" The blind lady replied, "No thanks, but maybe Buddy would like to stretch his legs."

Picture this:

All the people in the gate area came to a complete standstill when they looked up and saw the pilot walk off the plane with a Seeing Eye dog!

The pilot was even wearing sunglasses. People scattered. They not only tried to change planes, but they were trying to change airlines!

True story... Have a great day and remember...

THINGS AREN'T ALWAYS AS THEY APPEAR.

Are You Prepared For Success? (Section III - Installment #6 "The Past Is Gone!” – Male & Female versions)

(If this is your first time on this site, you may want to begin with "Are You Prepared For Success?" [Introduction])

If you are a regular reader of my Empowerment Process please read the Section II version of this poem first; then read this version.

The Past Is Gone!

I feel no regrets for opportunities lost;
I will not dwell on wasted time.
Of this I am sure, and I openly state,
"It is now that I am in my prime."

What's gone is gone, what's left is left.
These facts I cannot rearrange.
I'll let go of the past, and grab hold of what's left.
Now is the time for the change.

What remains is the future. What remains is now,
And it will all play out like a dream.
It will be an ocean of desires fulfilled,
Not a sea of "what might have been."

I won't beat myself up over moments gone by.
These moments I'll never retrieve.
I look forward with hope and courage and know
It's in myself that I will believe.

(An Original Poem by Mel Kaye)

I strongly suggest that you write down your immediate reaction, after passionately reading this poem.
  • Go back to your list of "lost opportunities" in "Section (II)".
    • List what you gain by letting go of them and moving on.

The Band Meme

I was tagged by many for this meme, but the final tag by Mimi of MIMI WRITES......... convinced me to play along. Let's face it, I do not want to end up in her dungeon, however, that could be fun, but I digress.

The Band Meme

Here's how it goes. You are about to have your own band's CD cover. Follow these directions to the letter. I am not tagging anyone on this, but try it. It is really easy and fun.

The first article title on the page is the name of your band.

The last four words of the very last quote is the title of your album.

The third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

4. Use your graphics program of choice to throw them together, and post the result as a comment in this post. Also, pass it along in your own journal because it’s more amusing that way.

Are You Prepared For Success? (Section III - Installment #5 "Don't Despair” – Male & Female versions)

(If this is your first time on this site, you may want to begin with "Are You Prepared For Success?" [Introduction])

If you are a regular reader of my Empowerment Process please read the Section II version of this poem first; then read this version.

Don't Despair

I'll stand in the face of total despair
And hold my head up high,
And look beyond as I declare
That through this I will fly.

Nothing will stop me short of death.
I'll feel sorry for myself no more.
And I am far from my last breath
As I set sight on a distant shore.

This is only a temporary state.
I know this in my heart.
I will not let this be my fate.
From this place I will depart.

There is a better place for me.
This truth I have uncovered.
A victim, I will no longer be,
My passion, I have re-discovered.

I am the one who will do it now.
It's all within my control.
I see what can be and I take this vow,
"I’ll never lose sight of my goal."

(An Original Poem by Mel Kaye)

I strongly suggest that you write down your immediate reaction, after passionately reading this poem.
  • Try this...In your mind's eye, back away from yourself and your current situation.
    • What do you now see?
      • Do you like what you see?
      • If you don't, what are you going to do about it?
      • If you do, reaffirm what you like.

My New Year's Wish

My New Year's wish for all of my blogging friends is that "2008 be filled with the creation of the most precious memories for future remembrance!"

Blogging Buddies

This was presented to me by my good friend Nina of the Alien Next Door. According to Nina: “I hope the new year will bring just as many fun, interesting, thought-provoking, warm and inspirational blog posts, to and from each of you, and just as many nice comments, tips and suggestions, as we all have seen in the past year.”

Thank you Nina!

Better Than Good

I want to thank Cliff of WIXY's Gone Bananas for this very appropriate award. WIXY refers to this award as "better than good."

As before, I will pass this on at a later date.

Again, Cliff, THANK YOU and have a happy New Year!

Are You Prepared For Success? (Section III - Installment #4 "Solitude” – Male & Female versions)

(If this is your first time on this site, you may want to begin with "Are You Prepared For Success?" [Introduction])

If you are a regular reader of my Empowerment Process please read the Section II version of this poem first; then read this version.

Solitude

If I laugh the world laughs with me;
Weep, and I weep alone;
For the sad old earth must borrow its mirth,
But has trouble enough of it’s own.
If I sing, the hills will answer;
Sigh, it is lost in the air;
The echoes bound to a joyful sound,
But shrink from voicing care.

If I rejoice, folks will seek me;
Grieve, and they turn and go;
They want full measure of all my pleasure,
But they do not need my woe.
If I am glad, my friends are many;
If I'm sad, I'll lose them all--
There are none to decline my nectared wine,
But alone I must drink life's gall.

If I feast, my halls are crowded;
Fast, and the world goes by.
If I succeed and give, it helps me live,
But no one can help me die.
There is room in the halls of pleasure
For a large and lordly train,
But one by one we must all file on
Through the narrow isles of pain.

Based on a poem by Ella Wheeler Wilcox

I strongly suggest that you write down your immediate reaction, after passionately reading this poem.
Refer back to the "Section (II)" "Comments"
  • How do you feel when you are around happy, positive people?
  • How do you feel when you are around unhappy, negative people?
  • How will you act when you are around the people you like?

Office Memo

For many of us next week we go back to work and begin a new year. Let's hope that we don't see this on our desks.

Office Memo

Dress Code:
- You are advised to come to work dressed according to your salary.
- If we see you wearing Prada shoes and carrying a Gucci bag, we will assume you are doing well financially and therefore do not need a raise.
- If you dress poorly, you need to learn to manage your money better, so that you may buy nicer clothes, and therefore you do not need a raise.
- If you dress just right, you are right where you need to be and therefore you do not need a raise.

Sick Days:
We will no longer accept a doctor's statement as proof of sickness. If you are able to go to the doctor; you are able to come to work.
Personal Days:
Each employee will receive 104 personal days a year. They are called Saturdays & Sundays.

Bereavement Leave:
This is no excuse for missing work. There is nothing you can do for dead friends, relatives or co-workers. Every effort should be made to have non-employees attend the funeral arrangements. If there are cases where employee involvement is necessary, the funeral should be scheduled in the late afternoon. We will be glad to allow you to work through your lunch hour and subsequently leave one hour early.

Bathroom Breaks:
Entirely too much time is being spent in the toilet. There is now a strict three-minute time limit in the stalls. At the end of three minutes, an alarm will sound, the toilet paper roll will retract, the stall door will open, and a picture will be taken. After your second offense, your picture will be posted on the company bulletin board under the "Chronic Offenders" category. Anyone caught smiling in the picture will be sectioned under the company's mental health policy.

Lunch Break:

- Skinny people get 30 minutes for lunch, as they need to eat more, so that they can look healthy.
- Normal size people get 15 minutes for lunch to get a balanced meal to maintain their average figure.
- Chubby people get 5 minutes for lunch, because that's all the time needed to drink a Slim-Fast.

Thank you for your loyalty to our company. We are here to provide a positive employment experience. Therefore, all questions, comments, concerns, complaints, frustrations, irritations, aggravations, insinuations, allegations, accusations, contemplations, consternation and input should be directed elsewhere.

The other side of the story

I was in the process of figuring out what to post today when I got this story emailed to me. It became obvious that this needs to be seen, so this is today's post.

This needs to make headline news...not some of the other junk that makes the news these days!!! Like the Rosie O'Donell war of words...celeb weddings...who's not wearing undies...etc.

It's a tough, but heartwarming story...with a picture of John Gebhardt in Iraq.

John Gebhardt's wife, Mindy, said that this little girl's entire family was executed. The insurgents intended to execute the little girl also, and shot her in the head...but they failed to kill her. She was cared for in John's hospital and is healing up, but continues to cry and moan. The nurses said John is the only one who seems to calm her down, so John has spent the last four nights holding her while they both slept in that chair. The girl is coming along with her healing.

He is a real Star of the war, and represents what America is trying to do.

The American public needs to see pictures like this and needs to realize that what we're doing over there is making a difference. Even if it is just one little girl at a time.

James Gates U. S. Navy
