I was having trouble with my computer. So I called Harold the computer guy, to come over. Harold clicked a couple of buttons and solved the problem.
He gave me a bill for a minimum service call. As he was walking away, I called after him, "So, what was wrong?" He replied, "It was an ID ten T error." I didn't want to appear stupid, but nonetheless inquired, "An, ID ten T error? What's that .. in case I need to fix it again?"
Harold grinned.... "Haven't you ever heard of an ID ten T error before?"
"No," I replied.
"Write it down," he said, "and I think you'll figure it out."
So I wrote down . I D 1 0 T
I used to like Harold.

That's an old tech support term. It's associated with the closing line of a support phone call "Thank you for calling (company name) today. We're glad we could be of service. >click< A$$hole!"
Love it Mel. I've been one of those too. The idiot that is. Have a great day. :)
Nice one to start the day with!
Ouch!!!
I have a cousin who's really good at computers. Whenever he talked to us about computer stuff with computer terminology, we would just nod and nod and nod without truly understanding what he meant. But he would keep on talking happily anyway he he he...It made me feel bad since I DID want to understand what he was really saying he he he...
As one who the IT department call to troubleshoot at my location(they work at another) I see my share of ID 10 T problems, also known as user ignorance.
I think that we all have had an ID10T computer story; some on the receiving end and some on the giving end.
LOL awesome tail!
Hi, Mel!
I also had a "Harold" fixing my computer, a few years ago...he charged me a whole lot of money, didn't do much on the computer, and then in the end couldn't even explain me what was wrong with the damn thing *nodding*!
I felt like punching his nose, and take my money back lol!
Sometimes I think that they look at us and think "Why bother explaining whatsoever to a computer-illiterate?" *shrugging*!
Cheers!
That's funny! But I don't think Harold would have been collecting any minimum service fees from me!
