I found a blog today that brought tears to my eyes. It is called Loving Farewells. The tears are coming from 2 sources:

1. The content - This blog deals with the grief that comes from losing a loved one.
2. Lack of love - It seems that no one has found this site yet.

MAN VS. WOMAN

(A MAN'S PERSPECTIVE) UNDERSTANDING WOMEN

I know I'm not going to understand women. I'll never understand how you can take boiling hot wax, pour it onto your upper thigh, rip the hair out by the root, and still be afraid of a spider.


MARRIAGE SEMINAR

While attending a Marriage Seminar dealing with communication, Tom and his wife Grace listened to the instructor, "It is essential that husbands and wives know each other's likes and dislikes." He addressed the man, "Can you name your wife's favorite flower?" Tom leaned over, touched his wife's arm gently and whispered, "It's Pillsbury, isn't it?


WIFE VS HUSBAND

A couple drove down a country road for several miles, not saying a word. An earlier discussion had led to an argument and neither of them wanted to concede their position. As they passed a barnyard of mules, goats, and pigs, the husband asked sarcastically, "Relatives of yours?" "Yep," the wife replied, "in-laws."


W O R D S

A husband read an article to his wife about how many words women use a day... 30,000 to a man's 15,000. The wife replied, "The reason has to be because we have to repeat everything to men... the husband then turned to his wife and asked, "What?"


CREATION

A man said to his wife one day, "I don't know how you can be so stupid and so beautiful all at the same time. " The wife responded, "Allow me to explain. God made me beautiful so you would be attracted to me; God made me stupid so I would be attracted to you!


WHO DOES WHAT

A man and his wife were having an argument about who should brew the coffee each morning. The wife said, "You should do it, because you get up first, and then we don't have to wait as long to get our coffee." The husband said, " You are in charge of cooking around here and you should do it, because that is your job, and I can just wait for my coffee." Wife replies, "No, you should do it, and besides, it is in the Bible that the man should do the coffee." Husband replies, "I can't believe that, show me." So she fetched the Bible, and opened the New Testament and showed him at the top of several pages, that it indeed says.........."HEBREWS"


The Silent Treatment

A man and his wife were having some problems at home and were giving each other the silent treatment. Suddenly, the man realized that the next day, he would need his wife to wake him at 5:00 AM for an early morning business flight. Not wanting to be the first to break the silence (and LOSE), he wrote on a piece of paper, "Please wake me at 5:00 AM." He left it where he knew she would find it. The next morning, the man woke up, only to discover it was 9:00 AM and he had missed his flight. Furious, he was about to go and see why his wife hadn't wakened him, when he noticed a piece of paper by the bed. The paper said, "It is 5:00 AM. Wake up." Men are not equipped for these kinds of contests.


God may have created man before woman, but there is always a rough draft before the masterpiece.

Who makes the best pateint?

Five surgeons from big cities are discussing who makes the best patients to operate on.

The first surgeon, from New York, says, "I like to see accountants on my operating table, because when you open them up, everything inside is numbered."

The second, from Chicago, responds, "Yeah, but you should try electricians! Everything inside them is color coded."

The third surgeon, from Dallas says, "No, I really think librarians are the best, everything inside them is in alphabetical order."

The fourth surgeon, from Los Angeles chimes in: "You know, I like construction workers...those guys always understand when you have a few parts left over."

But the fifth surgeon, from Ottawa shut them all up when he observed: "You're all wrong. Politicians are the easiest to operate on. There's no guts, no heart, no balls, no brains and no spine, and the head and ass are interchangeable.

A Challenge on "Leadership"

I had a comment today from John at a site called "Leadership Epidemic." It read "You’ve been tagged for the “Does Most Leadership Suck Challenge”. The challenge itself can be found at "Does Most Leadership Suck - The Challenge."

All Thinking Bloggers

As many of you know, I am in the midst of writing a "ChangeThis" Manifesto titled “Why Most Leadership Sucks, Including Yours”. While I have some definite opinions on why this is the case, I know that not everyone feels the same way I do. As such, I am trying to develop a more-complete and balanced understanding of what other people think. To accomplish this task, I am challenging Bloggers to post an entry supporting their position. In my first round of challenges, I am tagging all of the great Blogs that made it on Priscilla Palmer’s Personal Development List.

To accept this challenge, write a post describing your thoughts on why most leadership sucks. If you don’t agree, that’s fine too. I’m not looking for people who agree with me. I’m looking for a better understanding of what people think. It is better to get a hundred honest posts with different opinions than the same number of “Yes-Man” posts that don’t move the question forward. So, if you disagree with me, post why.

As the replies come in, I will build a list linking back to all of the posts that you write.

So, if you are up to the challenge, write a post, link back to the "Leadership Epidemic" send me an e-mail or drop me a comment and let’s start a conversation.

My response to John is as follow:
I have read your post and all of the comments that followed it. To me, nothing has been clarified as it relates to your challenge. "Leadership Sucks" is far too broad a category. Even if you specify an industry it is far too broad. The only way for the challenge to makes sense is to specify a company, an organization, the government, a person or a leadership style.

Like everything in life there are good and there are bad (referring to leaders and styles.) Most fall into the gray area between "good" and "bad." And to further complicate the challenge; "good" and "bad" are relative terms. For the sake of the challenge I will assume "sucks" (a work I dislike immensely) falls into the "bad" classification.

It kind of sounds like you are attacking the whole concept of "Leadership." If this is the case, then your whole premise is faulty then again. Without someone or some group to assume the leadership role you are looking at anarchy as the result.

Again, it falls back on what you are truly looking for as part of your challenge. You may as well be saying "let's have a challenge on why the color red sucks."

I fall into the category (this may have nothing to do with your challenge) of informed personal choice. If you do not like the leadership of the company that you work for; change companies. If you do not like the government leadership; work to change it. If you happen to be in the minority and cannot effect a change; then you have the choice to move to another country.

My mantra (if you will) is "Grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change; Courage to change the things I can; And the Wisdom to know the difference." I believe that we have a tendency to complicate everything when in most cases it simply comes down to personal responsibility and informed choice. Now, before I get any nasty comments or emails, I do understand that personal responsibility and informed choices do have their complications, but we have a tendency to "over" complicate.

I think I have spent too much time on a non-issue, but I am not one to back down from a challenge, especially if some good can come of it.

Positive Attitudes about Aging

I am very please to have begun an association with a wonderful site called SeniorResource.com. As we all get older attitude plays an even more important role in our lives. I will be leaning on this site for some insight into "Attitude for the Aging." In fact, this will become one of my many focuses and a category of it's own. The following is from their site.

New stimuli and a positive attitude are attributed to "successful" aging. (It's not enough to just tick off the birthdays.) Specific attitude issues to think about to achieve this are:

• Atittude 1 -- Take risks in life.
• Atittude 2 --Respect your own opinion.
• Atittude 3 --Be flexible and adaptable.
• Atittude 4 --Take on new challenges and learn new things.
• Atittude 5 --Deal with pain and losses, but don't hold on to the suffering they bring.
• Atittude 6 --See the half full glass.
• Atittude 7 --Take care of yourself with healthy eating and regular exercise.
• Atittude 8 --Don't accept societies myths as true about you.

Pet Peeve, Part 2

Well, thanks to Rambodoc (who says things like they are, alway) at A Twist of Word and Mind I was also one of the contributors to my own pet peeve. To be able to leave a comment on my site you have to rewrite one of those ridiculous strings of letters. So as of today, I have eliminated that process. Pet Peeve

This has become one of my "growing in irritation" pet peeves. Does anyone else get frustrated with having to type "Word Verifications" before leaving a comment on a post? Some of the letter combination that are being asked are ridiculous and some are impossible to even make out. I inevitably blow it the first time then have type a new set of ridiculous letters just to leave a comment.

OK, I'm done.

I feel much better now.

Our Heroines

Here's a hand to the girl who has courage
To do what she knows to be right;
When she falls in the way of temptation,
She has a hard battle to fight.
Who strives against self and her comrades
Will find a most powerful foe.
All honor to her if she conquers.
A cheer for the girl who says "NO!"

There's many a battle fought daily
The world knows nothing about;
There's many a brave little soldier
Whose strength puts a legion to rout.
And she who fights sin single-handed
Is more of a heroin, I say,
Than she who leads soldiers to battle
And conquers by arms in the fray.

Be steadfast, my girl, when you're tempted,
To do what you know to be right.
Stand firm by the colors of womanhood,
And you will o'ercome in the fight.
"The right," be your battle cry ever
In waging the warfare of life,
And God, who knows who are the heroines,
Will give you the strength for the strife.

Update on Joe Arpaio

HE IS THE MARICOPA ARIZONA COUNTY SHERIFF
AND HE KEEPS GETTING ELECTED OVER AND OVER

THIS IS ONE OF THE REASONS WHY:

He has jail meals down to 40 cents a serving and charges the inmates for them.

He stopped smoking and porno magazines in the jails. Took away their weights Cut off all but "G" movies.

He started chain gangs so the inmates could do free work on county and city projects.

Then He Started

Chain Gangs For Women

So He Wouldn't Get

Sued For

Discrimination.

He took away cable TV Until

he found out there was

Federal Court Order

that

Required Cable TV For Jails.

So He Hooked Up The Cable TV Again

Only Let In The Disney Channel And The Weather Channel.

When asked why the weather channel

He Replied,

So They Will Know

How Hot It's Gonna Be

While They Are Working

ON

My Chain Gangs.

He Cut Off Coffee

Since It Has

Zero Nutritional Value

When the inmates complained, he told them, "This Isn't

The Ritz/Carlton.

Don't Come Back."

He bought Newt Gingrich' lecture series on videotape that he pipes into the jails.

When asked by a reporter if he had any lecture series by a Democrat, he replied that a democratic lecture series might explain why a lot of the inmates were in his jails in the first place.

Way To Go, Sheriff!

Maybe if all prisons were like this one

there would be a lot less crime and/or repeat offenders.

Criminals should be punished for their crimes - not live in luxury until it's time for their parole, only to go out and commit another crime so they can get back in to live on taxpayers money and enjoy things taxpayers can't afford to have for themselves.

I realize that this post may offend some people, especially those that espouse rights for criminals. I held on to this for a while because I did not want to offend anyones sensibilities. But, every time I looked at it it just cried out to be posted. The straw the broke the camel's back for me was the fact that he does not discriminate; he treats all criminals the same no matter their sex, religion or race. I feel that prison should be a place that no one wants to go to. That should be the persuasive factor that convinces a convicted felon that he or she does not want to return. I also feel that prisons should be self supporting.
