(If this is your first time on this site, please begin with "Are You Prepared For Success?" [Introduction])
Risk
To laugh is to risk appearing the fool.
To weep is to risk appearing un-cool.
You risk getting involved when, to another you reach out.
When expressing your feelings you risk self-doubt.
You risk their loss, when your ideas, you state.
And, when expressing your dreams, you risk the same fate.
To hope is to risk total despair.
To try is to risk that there's failure out there.
To love is to risk not being loved in return.
But, without risk you can' t change, you can't live, you can't learn.
Not to risk you may avoid any suffering, but know
To risk is to live and to feel and to grow.
The greatest hazard in life, and the biggest risk, too
Is to risk nothing then nothing is you.
Without risk you can't love you can't live, you can't be.
Only a person who risks can truly be free.
(An original Poem by Mel Kaye)
I strongly suggest that you write down your immediate reaction, after passionately reading this poem.
- What would you really like to do, but haven't because of the risks?
- What would you have really risked?

Hey Mel,
I don't know how I let this one escape me *nodding*! Anyway...
Indeed, to many it is simpler not to take risks; however taking risks is what we are here for.
"What would you really like to do, but haven't because of the risks?" - there is nothing that I would rather be doing than what I am doing right now. I am in a project that has been lasting for a few years and it involved some risks, sacrifices, a lot of time investment but it is finally paying off; and I am happy that I took that risk.
"What would you have really risked?" - I have risked losing some friends and looking like an insensitive person (cause people tend to mistake focus for insensitivity)...
Beautiful poem, Mel; congratulations :D!
Cheers
One more thing:
Take a look (in your blog) above the archive & page rank - there is an image missing!
Cheers
Max,
You are right, focus can be mistaken for insensitivity. The issue, though, is if you risk and it works....that's great; if you do not risk, then you live with regrets.
Max,
That image is not working, so I just removed it.
Mel,
Regret is another awful feeling! However many use this word to do the wrong things, to make the wrong decisions and then say "at least I had to try, otherwise I might regret it!" *nodding*!
It is a fine line between taking risks and doing the wrong thing (I think this is where intution steps in)!
About the image: roger, sir :D!
Cheers
Max,
It is a VERY fine line between "risk" and "foolishness." Sometimes "gut feel" or as you put it, "intuition" comes into the picture to help make the best decision for "you," not a "right" or "wrong" decision, but the "best" decision.
Another great point max.
For my part everyone ought to glance at it.
