Okay, movie reviews are not my thing, however, I was compelled in this case. It was an overwhelming compulsion.....I just had to.
It all started when my wife was trying to convince me to go and see this movie. I had absolutely no desire. Well, she won. I went kicking and screaming, but I went. I really didn't want to go see a fat girl sing, and John Travolta in drag in a movie that takes place in 1962. After all there were no special effects. No one died. there was no sex. What a bore!
Tonight I just got back from seeing this movie for a second time. Yes, you heard me right, a second time and this time it was my idea. Gals, I think you know what I mean. Guys, you will just have to trust me.
"Hairspray" is probably the best feel good movie I have seen in years! I was smiling the entire time. I came out wanting to sing and dance. I can't sing and I sure can't dance....but I wanted to anyway. I had to see it for a second time to see if the feeling I had the first time was real, or if someone slipped me some kind if happy pill.
Believe me, it is for real. WOW, what a feeling. If you haven't seen this movie yet, see it. If you have seen it, then you know what I mean. I can't get the music out of my, and I don't want to.

I've looked all over your post but can't find the words..."I should know by now that my wife knows best." :)
Great to find a 'feel good' movie I'm so glad you recommended it because I don't think I would have gone to see it. The original was a bit of a cult and I'm always wary of remakes - so thanks!
Btw, your writing exudes your enthusiasm, thanks for the smile, my one was still asleep.
It is all about attitude, isn't it?
I like "Grease"!
Walksfarwoman,
I can't say that, "My wife knows best"....I am more apt to listen to her, but I just can't bring myself to put it into words......I just can't.
calista,
I am a little embarrassed that I didn't actually use "It is all about attitude" in my review, but yes, you are absolutely right, "IT IS ALL ABOUT ATTITUDE!"
I like this post ! I think maybe it's because the music's from a time when music still had tunes and you could tell the difference between a song and the band tuning up. Now the songs I like come from Disney and Pixar. The Lion King still my favourite !
by the way, there's this cute little thingy I've put up on my blog that let's you value blogs and I took the liberty of typing your blog in since I figured it would be worth more than mine and it is. Yours is valued at more than $38,000 !! Well done !! ( I think my blog's value went up cos I'm linked to yours !! Guess hanging out with the right people helps huh ?)
Karen,
The reason I like this song so much is the same as yours, it's nice to have a definite tune and words that make sense, and it's happy, with the right attitude; and that is what my site is all about!
As far as the value of my site, there is no amount of money (well maybe not no amount) that can take the place of the fun I am having with this site. In addition, I feel that I am doing something that is universally significant, and maybe, just maybe, I can actually make a difference.......WOW.
Hi Mel!
I know what you mean! When I first heard about it, I was like "oh, no! Another Mrs. Doubtfire-kinda-movie; but then I watch the trailers, and Oprah promoting it, and I sharped my curiosity!!! Unfortunately the movie is not in the theatres yet, here in Portugal; but when it does come out: I'll be there!!!!
So, your wife convinced you, huh? What else is new? You guys are easy LOL!
Cheers!
Now Max,
Be nice....if we guys didn't give in once in a while we would be looking at World War III.
Ha ! Guys just think they give in. Sometimes women have to let them think they have made the decision so things can get done !!
And if women were in charge, there wouldn't have been world war I or II !!
