I can personally testify that Viking River Cruises is the only way to travel. It is akin to a moving "All Inclusive"; plane fare, hotels, all meals and all excursions are included in one convenient package. I just (7/10/08) returned from their 12 day "Imperial Jewels of China" trip. I can absolutely say that this was the best trip I have ever taken.
If you would like to get more information please call 1-800-304-9619 and say that Mel Kaye referred you. In addition to the great values and discounts you will receive a $50 shipboard credit by using my name.
For additional details, before you call, go to their web site.

Are You Prepared For Success? (Section III - Installment #14 "The Secret of Happiness” – Male & Female versions)
(If this is your first time on this site, you may want to begin with "Are You Prepared For Success?" [Introduction])
If you are a regular reader of my Empowerment Process please read the Section II version of this poem first; then read this version.
The Secret Of Happiness
If happiness is what I am looking for
There are no great mysteries for me to explore,
No oceans to swim or mountains to climb.
No searching until the ends of time.
Happiness is not found in what I possess
Nor does it lie on the road to success.
Having someone to love is great, that's for sure.
But it takes more than love for happiness to endure.
To have achieved my goals is a wonderful feeling
But that in itself is not that appealing.
The victory is mine, the race is won,
But without knowing happiness, I've only begun.
Happiness will be mine, because I now see
Just how easy attaining it really can be.
Whether I'm poor or whether I'm rich,
Young or old, it doesn't matter which.
Plain or pretty, skinny or fat,
Kind of heart or a low-down rat,
Healthy or sick, educated or not
I will just be grateful for what I've got.
The more gratitude that I express
The more I'll enjoy each and every success.
All I need is to have the right attitude.
For happiness is the attitude of gratitude.
(An Original Poem by Mel Kaye)
I strongly suggest that you write down your immediate reaction, after passionately reading this poem.
• How will you express gratitude for what you have?

Nostalgia
A JC Penney catalog from 1977. It's not often blog fodder just falls in my lap, but holy hell this was two solid inches of it, right there for the taking. I thumbed through it quickly and found my next dining room set, which is apparently made by adding upholstery to old barrels:
There's plenty more home furnishings where those came from, however I'm not going to bore you with that. Instead, I'm going to bore you with something else. The clothes. The clothes are fantastic.
Here's how to get your ass kicked in elementary school:
Just look at that belt. It's like a boob-job for your pants. He probably needed help just to lift it into place. The belt loops have to be three inches long. And way to pull them up to your armpits, grandpa. Here's how to get your ass kicked in high school:

This kid looks like he's pretending to be David Soul, who is pretending to be a cop who is pretending to be a pimp that everyone knows is really an undercover cop. Who is pretending to be 15.
Here's how to get your ass kicked on the golf course:
This "all purpose jumpsuit" is, according to the description, equally appropriate for playing golf or simply relaxing around the house. Personally, I can't see wearing this unless you happen to be relaxing around your cell in D-block. Even then, the only reason you should put this thing on is because the warden made you, and as a one-piece, it's slightly more effective as a deterrent against ass-rapery.Here's how to get your ass kicked pretty much anywhere:
If you look at that picture quickly, it looks like Mr. Bob "No-pants" Saget has his hand in the other guy's pocket. In this case, he doesn't, although you can tell just by looking at them that it's happened - or if it hasn't happened it will. Oh yes. It will. As soon as he puts down his matching coffee cup. Here's how to get your ass kicked at the beach:
He looks like he's reaching for a gun, but you know it's probably just a bottle of suntan lotion in a holster. How to get your ass kicked in a meeting:
If you wear this suit and don't sell used cars for a living, I believe you can be fined and face serious repercussions, up to and including termination. Or imprisonment, in which case you'd be forced to wear that orange jumpsuit. How to get your ass kicked on every day up to and including St. Patrick's Day
Dear god in heaven, I don't believe that color exists in nature. There is NO excuse for wearing either of these ensembles unless you're working as a body guard for the Lucky Charms leprechaun. In this next one, Your Search For VALUE Ends at Penneys.
As does your search for chest hair. And this -- Seriously. No words.
Oh wait, it turns out that there are words after all. Those words are What. The. F*ck. I'm guessing the snap front gives you quick access to the chest hair. The little tie must be the pull tab. Also, judging by the sheer amount of matching his/hers outfits, I'm guessing that in 1977 it was considered pretty stylish for couples to dress alike. These couples look happy, don't they?

I am especially fond of this one, which I have entitled "Cowboy Chachi Loves You Best."
And nothing showcases your everlasting love more than the commitment of matching bathing suits. That, and a blond girl with a look on her face that says "I love the way your junk fights against that fabric."
Then, after the lovin', you can relax in your one-piece matching terry cloth jumpsuits:
I could go on, but I'm tired, and my eyes hurt from this trip back in time. I think it's the colors. That said, I will leave you with these tasteful little numbers:
Man, that's sexy.

Are You Prepared For Success? (Section III - Installment #13 "Persistence” – Male & Female versions)
(If this is your first time on this site, you may want to begin with "Are You Prepared For Success?" [Introduction])
If you are a regular reader of my Empowerment Process please read the Section II version of this poem first; then read this version.
Persistence
There is nothing to take its place.
Not even with talent, can I make a case.
In this world, it's a common sight,
To have all the talent without the fight.
The brains of a genius, is not what it takes;
It would be nice, little chance for mistakes.
But as I look about, I continue to see
"Un-rewarded genius", a proverb be.
Education will take me only part of the way.
It is important, I will start today.
I am forewarned, as I see all around,
Educated derelicts, a penny a pound.
The most important ingredient in winning, I see,
Is that of persistence, that is the key.
I will never give up, because I wish to rise.
Persistence, more than anything, will win me the prize.
(An Original Poem by Mel Kaye)
I strongly suggest that you write down your immediate reaction, after passionately reading this poem.

Fly Hunter
A woman walked into the kitchen to find her husband stalking around with a fly swatter. 'What are you doing?' She asked.
‘Hunting Flies' He responded.
'Oh! Killing any?' She asked.
'Yep, 3 males, 2 Females,' he replied.
Intrigued, she asked. 'How can you tell them apart?'

Dona Nobis Pacem
I was challenged by Sandee of Comedy Plus to participate in the Peace Globe movement. I had already flown my globe but did not complete the "meme" aspect of it. So now it is complete, meme and all.
Mimi, the QUEEN of meme's, the creator of The Peace Globes, the author of BlogBlast for Peace has come up with a brilliant idea. She is treating her Peace Globes as a meme to spread this wonderful event. I'm going to jump on board and I challenge you to copy and paste this meme on your site and tag absolutely everyone in the blogosphere. Here's what Mimi has to say:
Peace Globes did not begin as a meme. But it began to behave like a meme. Blog to blog to blog. Like a fog. We didn't use the word "tag" ....but that's what we did when we invited others in our blogrolls to participate. The fact that you did so without the obligatory tag is proof that the concept is powerful.
It's a fact that the fastest and most effective way to spiral an idea out of control in the blogosphere is via a meme. I should know! The 700+ bloggers who participated in past launches (and that truly is the tip of The-Iceberg-I-Never-Found) knows what it means to them. It's about unity. We have that in spades. It's about activism, awareness, crossing political lines, making a statement and sharing ideas. We've done that. We have the vision as a core group of bloggers for peace; but we do not - yet - have the power in numbers behind the message.
BlogBlast For Peace Meme ~ Join The Revolution
Here are the rules and the story. Copy this into a post and tag as many people as you'd like.
The Peace Globe project began in the fall of 2006 with a simple post from one blog, Mimi Writes. The post ignited a flame in the blogosphere. The flame became a passion. The passion became a movement. It amazingly traveled from blog to blog to blog across the globe. Bloggers wrote passionate articles on what peace means to them, along with the promise of three Latin words scribbled on a globe - Dona Nobis Pacem (Grant Us Peace) - branded with the integrity of their names or blog names. It was positively inspiring to watch. And it began to happen all over the world - from Singapore to China to Afghanistan to Brooklyn. How To Get Your Peace Globe In 4 easy steps! It was simple. And powerful.
In less than two weeks bloggers from all
across the globe will blog for peace.
We will speak with one voice. One subject. One day.
Won't you join us?
June 4, 2008
- Choose one of the four Peace Globe designs in this post. Right CLICK and SAVE in JPG format.
- Sign the globe using Paint, Photoshop or a similar graphics tool. Decorate the globe anyway you wish. You can even include the name of your blog. Click here for hundreds of inspiring examples from previous BlogBlasts.
- Return the peace globe to me via email ~ mimiwrites2005 at yahoo.com - Let me know your blog's name and url by leaving a comment here and signing the Mr. Linky. Your submission will be numbered and dated in the official gallery . Your globe and post will be listed on the Official BlogBlast For Peace website and The Peace Globe Posts page.
- Here's the most important part -- On June 4, 2008 DISPLAY YOUR GLOBE IN A POST. Title your post "Dona Nobis Pacem". This is important. The goal is for all blog post titles to say the same thing on the same day. Write about peace that day or simply fly your globe.
Click here for examples of peace globe posts from previous BlogBlasts.

Please consider passing this meme through the blogosphere.
This is Mimi Pencil Skirt reporting from
the lovely land of the Peace Globes.
Memeing the Movement.

You had better stay home

Just go back in the house, pour another cup of coffee, and stay there. It probably isn't going to be a good day.
Thank you WIXY

Are You Prepared For Success? (Section III - Installment #12 "Risks” – Male & Female versions)
(If this is your first time on this site, you may want to begin with "Are You Prepared For Success?" [Introduction])
If you are a regular reader of my Empowerment Process please read the Section II version of this poem first; then read this version.
I know when I laugh I risk appearing the fool.
I know when I weep I risk appearing un-cool.
I risk getting involved when, to another I reach out.
When expressing myself there's the risk of self-doubt.
I risk their loss, when my ideas, I state;
When pursuing my dreams, I risk the same fate.
To hope…there is always the risk of despair,
But to try is to see that there's success out there.
To love is to risk not being loved in return,
But without risk I can't change, I can't live, I can't learn.
Not to risk I may avoid any suffering, but I know
To risk is to live and to feel and to grow.
The greatest hazard in life, and the risk that I see,
Is to risk nothing then nothing is me.
Without risk I can't love I can't live, I can't be.
I will take the risks so that I can truly be free.
I strongly suggest that you write down your immediate reaction, after passionately reading this poem. • What risks will you now take? • When you take these risks, what is it that you truly risk?

Memorial Day

This quote was left as a comment by my friend Sarge Charlie.
On this Memorial Day remember my friends who died for your freedom. Dear Lord, lest I continue in my complacent ways, help me to remember that someone died for me today. And if there be war, help me to remember to ask and to answer “am I worth dying for?”~

A Very Special Award

Max bestowed upon me this special award since she thought that my blog "is awesome and whenever you feel tired, stressed or down just visit it and you'll immediately feel good." I am truly honored by such kind words and this wonderful award.
The Rules:
1) You have to pick 5 blogs that you consider deserve this award for their creativity, design, interesting material, and also for contributing to the blogging community, no matter what language.
2) Each award has to have the name of the author and also a link to his or her blog to be visited by everyone.
3) Each award winner has to show the award and put the name and link to the blog that has given her or him the award itself.
4) Award-winner and the one who has given the prize have to show the link of “Arte y Pico” blog, so everyone will know the origin of this award.
I would like to pass on this award to 5 excellent bloggers:
1- Comedy Plus : Sandee is truly one of the funniest people in the blogesphere. Her stories are priceless and she is very much worth knowing.
2- The Painted Veil : Shinade has, I believe, the most visually pleasing site on the net. She is a true friend and a fantastic place to visit.
3- Speedcat Hollydale : Speedy is certifiably out of his mind and he doesn't care who knows it. His site is a must-visit, however, when you visit him you may never think of chicken the same way again.....be forewarned.
4- Mimi Writes... : Mimi, the "Queen of Memes" has the most creative and deeply moving projects of anyone on the web......second only to me of course (LOL.)
5- Nick's Bytes : Nick is worth knowing. He is a very gentle man that you do not want to cross. He is funny and very sensitive. Ask him about Alex, the cat that owns him. But, be ready for a very long and heart warming response.
I thank the five of you for simply being there. When I get the chance to visit I always come away with a smile.

Look After Your Wife
I thought at first this guy was lazy... but he came through in the end. Here's to good ol' American ingenuity especially applied to our wives and/or girlfriends
Mel
LOOK AFTER YOUR WIFE...
A couple of weeks ago, I was sitting on the patio, drinking beer and watching my wife mow the lawn.
Cheryl from next door saw us and was so upset that she came over and yelled at me...."You lazy prick! Sitting there drinking beer while your poor wife pushes that ancient lawn mower around! Get up off your arse and give her a break!"
I thought "Shit! ... Women!" Took another swig from my stubby, wiped the cold foam from my lips, lifted my sunnies, stared directly at this nosey cow and told her in no uncertain terms "Sod off and mind your own business. My wife has green fingers, and she really enjoys gardening".
After a few days I felt really bad , so I went out and bought her a ride-on mower to show my sensitive side. I am so proud of the deal I got. I am also proud that my wife can now sit down while mowing the lawn. Yes guys , after all we should take good care of our wives ... that way maybe they will take good care of us.
I have attached a picture below. I hope it comes through OK [see below]
I'M TOO BLOODY SOFT WITH HER, SHE WILL WANT GEARS ON IT NEXT.
